If you’re on the hunt for a subcompact SUV that offers roomy seating, plenty of standard tech, and off-road capabilities, the Chevy Trailblazer is worth your time. Elbowing its way to the front of the class, Middletown, Manchester, and Hartford are sure to like its sporty and family-friendly qualities.
To help you determine which of its five trims is right for you, the team at Key Chevrolet created this Chevy Trailblazer trim level review. Read on before visiting our showroom for a test drive!
It’s not everyday you find 4G LTE Wi-Fi® hotspot capability on a base trim. Then again, the Trailblazer L is no typical SUV. It also comes standard with a Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System with 7-inch touchscreen. Include Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and Voice-Command technology, and what you get is a rolling entertainment and business center.
To get you where you need to go with limited stops, Chevy equips the Trailblazer L with a super-efficient 1.2L ECOTEC turbo engine. Paired to a continuously variable transmission with Automatic Stop/Start with disable, you’ll be able to explore farther while enjoying an ultra-smooth ride.
In fact, the stellar lineup of technology doesn’t end there; thanks to the Chevy Safety Assist suite, you have a long list of active safety helping to guide your journey, including:
Moving up a level, the Trailblazer LS provides extra stability thanks to 17-inch alloy wheels along with available Rear Park Assist. Drivers also are able to take advantage of Chevy’s selectable all-wheel drive system.
Inside the cabin, the LS trim helps you maximize every square inch by adding a flat-folding front passenger seatback. This makes it easier to fit longer items like skis, lumber, and more! You’ll also find additional niceties like a dashboard compass, vanity mirrors, and an upgraded 6 speaker audio system.
For those with serious outdoor ambitions, the Trailblazer LT ups the ante both when it comes to performance and convenience. Drivers have the option to upgrade to an ECOTEC 1.3L turbo engine that generates 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.
To get you on the road faster, Keyless Start comes standard along with a heated 10-way power driver seat to keep you comfortable. For those chilly winter excursions, the LT also features heated mirrors and fog lights to help guide you through the shorter days.
Engineered for hill climbing and light off-road duty, the Trailblazer ACTIV swaps out the CVT transmission for a smart-shifting 9-speed automatic when also equipped with AWD. This makes it easy to go from city to countryside without skipping a beat.
Further increasing performance is the addition of a dual-outlet exhaust and off-road suspension tuning. Light trailering equipment also comes standard, meaning you can hitch up a small camper or moving trailer.
Perhaps the most notable changes you’ll find on the ACTIV trims is the exterior upgrades including:
Rounding out the five trim levels, the Trailblazer RS ups the ante by using heavy 18-inch alloy wheel and trimming the interior with dramatic red accents.
RS Drivers can also customize their SUV by adding one of Chevy’s available suites like the Technology, Convenience, and Driver Confidence packages.
